We believe that natural building is not just a construction method but a way of life. By sharing our knowledge and skills, we hope to inspire others to build in harmony with nature, creating a healthier and more resilient world for all.

Why Natural Building?

We spend half our lives inside buildings and the construction of those buildings accounts for a great deal of our resources and has a significant impact on our health. Toxic materials, gross carbon emissions and landfill waste characterize a conventional building world thats major aim is profit. It seems obvious then that in order to change our world to be healthier, we must in turn transform the way we build and our choice of material is critical in that transformation. Our school aims to teach students how to recognize and use the wellspring of natural and reclaimed resources available to build with. Some are centuries or millennia old, others are available only recently as a byproduct of industrial progression.

Changes wealth stream to local by increasing need for labor and decreasing need for imported/mass produced products.

The process and results of doing this create the inherent beauty that has come to be known as natural building.  The rekindling of an instinct and discernment that was our nature as humans up until only a generation ago brings with it an experimentation and expressiveness akin to that of a child making shapes in the sand.

Learn to build structure based around materials in your local environment; wood, earth, straw and stone.  Harvest materials from your immediate environment, process and manipulate them into durable shelter.

  • Our intent is to foster self reliance and reverence to nature

Looking outside the constructs of the conventional building world, we learn a craft to support a sustainable existence as humans.
